CPAP Filters

of 2 products

CPAP filters are the most essential consumables of your therapy. They protect the device and your airways from dust, pollen, fine particles and dust mites. A clogged filter forces the turbine to work harder, reduces effective pressure and shortens machine life. Replace every 1 to 6 weeks depending on model and environment.

At VivaRespire, find compatible ResMed filters: AirSense 10 & S9 Filters and AirSense 11 Filters, in value packs.

Our catalog CPAP Filters

The CPAP filter is the first barrier between ambient air and your airways for 7 to 9 hours every night. Without a clean filter, you inhale dust, pollen and particles from your bedroom, and your device's turbine wears out prematurely.

It's the simplest accessory to maintain and the one with the biggest impact on therapy quality over time. Yearly investment: €30-50. Savings on machine longevity: hundreds of euros.

The 2 types of CPAP filters

  • Standard filters (or blue): fine foam or non-woven fabric filters that catch large particles (dust, pollen, debris). These are the "base" filters shipped with your device. Excellent efficiency/price ratio.
  • Hypoallergenic filters (or white): filters with an extra layer that catches fine particles and allergens. Recommended for patients with allergies, mild asthma, or polluted/dusty environments. More expensive but more effective for respiratory sensitivities.

When to change your CPAP filter?

Frequency depends on model and environment:

  • AirSense 11: filter integrated in the upper compartment, change every 4 to 6 weeks. ResMed recommends 4 weeks in standard environments.
  • AirSense 10 / S9: filter in the back slot, change every 4 to 6 weeks too.
  • Pets (cat, dog): more frequent changes, every 2-3 weeks.
  • Dusty environment (construction, countryside): every 1-2 weeks.

How to know it's time? The filter turns gray/black, dotted with dust. Compare to a new filter: the difference is striking.

Filters available at VivaRespire

Important: filters are not interchangeable between AirSense 10 and 11 models. The slot shape was modified. Check your exact model carefully before ordering.

Compatibility with other brands

ResMed filters are only compatible with ResMed CPAPs. If you have a Philips DreamStation, Löwenstein prisma or Sefam EcoStar, you need brand-specific filters, which VivaRespire is preparing for the catalog.

Frequently asked questions about CPAP filters

Every 4 to 6 weeks in standard environment for ResMed AirSense 10/11. More often (2-3 weeks) with pets or dusty environments. Practical tip: tie the change to a regular event (first Sunday of month) so you don't forget.

No. The filter slot was completely redesigned on the AirSense 11. Filters are not interchangeable. For AirSense 10 and S9, get the AirSense 10/S9 filters. For AirSense 11, get the AirSense 11 filters.

The standard filter covers 95% of needs: catches dust, pollen and debris. Affordable, effective. The hypoallergenic filter adds a fine layer for ultra-fine particles and allergens (mites, mold). Prefer it if you have asthma, chronic allergies, or live in a polluted urban environment. For most patients, standard is more than enough.

No. ResMed AirSense filters are disposable, single-use over their lifespan. They are not designed to be washed: washing destroys the fiber structure and compromises filtration efficiency. Older S8/S9 ResMed had a washable foam filter, but that's gone. Modern filters are replaced, period.

Never use a CPAP without a filter. (1) You inhale dust and particles from your bedroom directly for 8 hours. (2) The turbine sucks dirt that accumulates in the internal circuit, contaminates the motor chamber and can damage components. (3) You risk warranty void. If you're out, urgently buy a filter pack or use the current filter until replacement.

At VivaRespire, 2-filter packs are around €5-10, 12-filter packs (1 year of use) between €25-40. By far the most affordable consumable in CPAP therapy. Annual filter investment: €30-50 for a daily patient.

Yes, generic compatible filters exist and are 30-50% cheaper. But beware of quality: a poor filter lets more particles through and tears under turbine suction (debris in the circuit). VivaRespire only distributes genuine ResMed filters to guarantee safety and performance. If savings are crucial, get the 12-pack ResMed instead of dubious generics.

Very simple. On the AirSense 11: open the upper compartment, remove old filter, slide the new one into the slot (orientation marked), close. On the AirSense 10/S9: remove the back cover, take out old filter, insert new one, replace cover. 30 seconds total. No tool or internal handling needed. Filter only fits one way.
