Philips Respironics Pico – Nasal CPAP Mask

The Pico is particularly well suited to CPAP starters, to claustrophobic users or those sensitive to bulky masks, and to anyone wanting a light, discreet nasal model. With minimal facial contact and a clear field of vision, it helps falling asleep. Philips says it fits more than 98% of patients thanks to its Auto-Seal technology.

The Pico comes in three sizes: S/M, L and XL. The S/M size covers most morphologies, from finer to medium faces, simplifying the choice. Pick L if your nose is wider than average, and XL for truly larger morphologies. The Auto-Seal cushion is forgiving and accepts a wider fit margin.

The Pico uses a standard 22 mm connector, compatible with almost all CPAPs on the market: AirSense 10, AirSense 11, DreamStation, DreamStation 2, Loewenstein Prisma and more. It is not compatible with the ResMed AirMini, which uses a proprietary connector. No adapter is needed for other standard CPAPs.

The Pico is a classic nasal mask. If you breathe through the mouth during sleep, therapeutic pressure escapes and treatment loses efficacy. A CPAP chin strap may be enough in mild cases. If the mouth clearly opens, a full face mask like the AirFit F20 or DreamWear Full Face is better. Ask your sleep physician for advice.

The clip-on cushion comes off in one motion, making cleaning easy. Rinse it every morning in warm soapy water (neutral soap). Once a week, hand wash the headgear with mild soap, rinse and air dry. Avoid alcohol, bleach and dishwashers, which degrade silicone and shorten mask life.

The silicone Auto-Seal nasal cushion typically lasts 3 to 6 months depending on use and care. The ultra-flat headgear lasts 6 to 12 months. Replace the cushion as soon as you see stubborn leaks, yellowing, loss of elasticity or cracks. Regular gentle cleaning clearly extends the life of the whole assembly.
