Frequently asked questions
The Mirage FX comes in two main sizes: Standard for most adult faces and Wide (Large) for broader faces. The Small size is only available via the Mirage FX for Her version. To choose well, measure the width of the nose at the base and the nasal bridge height. When in doubt, start with Standard which fits most facial shapes.
No, it is a pure nasal mask. If you sleep with your mouth open, the therapy air will escape and pressure will not be effective. A CPAP chin strap may solve the issue in mild cases. For marked mouth breathing, choose a full face mask like the AirFit F20 or AirTouch F20. Always consult your sleep physician before switching mask type.
The Mirage FX is compatible with any CPAP using a standard 22 mm connector: AirSense 10, AirSense 11, DreamStation, DreamStation 2, Loewenstein Prisma and most devices on the market. It is not directly compatible with the ResMed AirMini, which uses a proprietary connector. The quick-release elbow makes connecting and disconnecting easy.
The silicone nasal cushion is generally replaced every 3 to 6 months depending on use and care. You can keep it longer if it stays soft, clear and sealing well. Replace it as soon as you notice persistent leaks despite good fit, loss of silicone elasticity, cracks, or marked yellowing. The SoftEdge headgear typically lasts 6 to 12 months.
Disassemble the mask every morning and rinse the cushion in warm soapy water (neutral, unscented soap). Once a week, hand wash all parts in warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly and air dry away from direct sunlight. Never use alcohol, bleach or a dishwasher, which damage silicone and shorten the mask's life.
The Mirage FX is an older, simpler and more affordable model. It suits patients who prefer a robust, easy-to-understand mask with just four components. The AirFit N20 is more modern, with magnetic clips, an under-the-eye frame and a more forgiving InfinitySeal cushion. Choose the Mirage FX for simplicity and budget, the AirFit N20 for latest-generation comfort.
