VivaRespire publishes content about sleep apnea and CPAP therapy. Because we also sell CPAP equipment, this page explains our editorial process, our sources, and how we handle this dual role as a shop and an information site.
Who writes our content
All guides on VivaRespire are written by Andy Leleux, a sleep medicine technologist with over 10 years of clinical experience in sleep laboratories and hands-on expertise across all major CPAP brands (ResMed, Philips, Löwenstein, Fisher & Paykel).
Andy is not a medical doctor. No content on this site replaces a medical consultation, a diagnosis made by a sleep physician, or follow-up by an accredited sleep centre.
Our editorial process
- Research â each guide starts with a review of available medical sources (clinical studies, society guidelines, manufacturer documentation).
- Writing â content is written by cross-referencing these sources with clinical sleep laboratory experience.
- Fact-checking â technical facts (pressures, equipment specifications, compatibilities) are verified against official manufacturer documentation.
- Publication â pages are published with visible publication and last-updated dates.
- Maintenance â guides are reviewed at least once a year, more often if a major new study or new product justifies it.
Our medical sources
We rely on internationally recognised sources:
- American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) â clinical guidelines on sleep apnea
- European Respiratory Society (ERS) â European guidelines
- INAMI / RIZIV â official Belgian convention documentation
- Inserm â French-speaking epidemiological data
- Published studies on PubMed, in the New England Journal of Medicine, Sleep, Chest, and other peer-reviewed journals
- Manufacturer technical documentation â user manuals and clinical bulletins from ResMed, Philips, Löwenstein, Fisher & Paykel
Commercial transparency
Our concrete commitments against this conflict of interest:
- Our product recommendations are based on clinical expertise, not commercial margin.
- When a product is not available in our shop but better suited to a patient case, we mention it.
- We do not accept hidden sponsored partnerships.
- No guide is written in exchange for manufacturer payment.
- Links to our own products are editorial, not advertising.
Our limits
VivaRespire does not replace:
- a consultation with a sleep specialist (pulmonologist, ENT, neurologist);
- a sleep apnea diagnosis (which requires polysomnography or respiratory polygraphy);
- follow-up by an accredited sleep centre under the INAMI/RIZIV convention;
- personalised medical advice.
If you have symptoms of sleep apnea or medical questions, consult a healthcare professional.
