ResMed myAir - How to Read and Understand Your CPAP Results
myAir is ResMed's official app for tracking your CPAP therapy. It connects to your AirSense 11 via Wi-Fi and displays a score from 0 to 100 each morning based on the previous night's data. Understanding your score helps you identify what's working - and what can be improved.
Configuring Wi-Fi on the AirSense 11
- On the AirSense 11, press the main button to display the menu.
- Go to My Settings > Connectivity > Wi-Fi.
- Enable Wi-Fi and select your network.
- Enter your network password.
- Confirm - the Wi-Fi icon appears at the top of the screen.
The myAir Score - How Is It Calculated?
| Criteria | Weight | Target |
|---|---|---|
| Usage hours | Important | ≥ 4 hours per night |
| Residual AHI (events/hour) | Very important | < 5 events/hour |
| Mask leaks | Important | "Excellent" or "Good" level |
| Mask removals | Moderate | 0 removals ideally |
Understanding Each myAir Indicator
Usage Hours
Time during which you actually wore the mask and breathed with CPAP pressure. Minimum target: 4 hours per night. Below 4 hours, most studies show insufficient therapeutic effectiveness.
Residual AHI
- < 5 events/hour: excellent apnea control
- 5 to 10: acceptable but improvable
- > 10: poorly controlled - consult your doctor
Mask Leaks
myAir rates leaks as Excellent, Good, or Needs Attention. Leaks are the most common cause of a poor myAir score.
If leaks are elevated:
- Check your cushion (worn? clean?)
- Readjust the headgear
- Avoid moisturisers before wearing your mask
- If leaks persist, replace the cushion (available in our replacement parts)
What to Do if Your myAir Score Is Below 70
- Check leaks: most common cause. Inspect and clean your cushion.
- Check usage hours: wear the mask at least 4 hours. Try the pressure ramp feature for a more comfortable start.
- Control residual AHI: if high despite correct usage, pressure may be inappropriate - discuss with your doctor.
- Use OSCAR for deeper analysis: see our OSCAR guide for night-by-night data analysis.

Frequently asked questions about the ResMed myAir app
The myAir score is a composite indicator out of 100 calculated from four criteria: usage hours, residual AHI, mask leaks and mask removals. A score above 70 indicates that your therapy is generally effective. Above 80 you are in an optimal zone. Below 70, one or more criteria need attention. The score has no clinical value in itself: it is an educational tool to track day-to-day progress.
Follow a four-step diagnostic. Check leaks first: this is the most common cause of a low score. Then verify your usage hours and try the pressure ramp if you remove the mask during the night. Monitor residual AHI: if it stays above 5 despite proper use, discuss with your doctor. For deeper analysis, use the OSCAR software which displays respiratory events night by night.
No. myAir provides a daily consumer-friendly summary: overall score, hours, average AHI, leaks. OSCAR is an advanced analysis software that reads your CPAP SD card and displays detailed second-by-second curves of pressure, flow, leaks and respiratory events. myAir is suitable for routine monitoring, OSCAR is useful when you need to understand why your score is dropping or why therapy remains uncomfortable.
Leaks weigh heavily in the myAir score because they compromise CPAP effectiveness. When air escapes around the mask, the actual pressure in the airway drops and apnoeas may reappear. Common causes: worn cushion, badly adjusted headgear, moisturiser on the skin, or changes in morphology. Inspect your cushion first and replace it via our replacement parts.
Four hours is the minimum efficacy threshold used in most clinical studies and by insurance conventions such as INAMI. For optimal benefit on fatigue, attention and cardiovascular health, the real target is to wear the CPAP for your entire sleep duration. If you sleep 7 hours, aim for 7 hours with the mask. The higher the adherence, the better the long-term outcomes.
Only with your explicit consent. Your doctor or provider can access your data via the professional ResMed AirView portal, but this requires prior authorisation. If you are under the INAMI convention, your sleep centre typically uses this system to monitor adherence. If you bought your device at VivaRespire, sharing is entirely optional: your data stays in your myAir account unless you decide to share it.
No. Your AirSense 11 works perfectly without Wi-Fi. CPAP therapy runs locally on each use. myAir is an optional monitoring tool. Without Wi-Fi, you still have access to AHI and hours on the device screen. The built-in SD card records all detailed data, readable through OSCAR. Wi-Fi is useful for monitoring convenience, not for treatment itself.
