The Nonin WristOx2 3150 BLE is a wrist worn pulse oximeter with a finger sensor. It records your oxygen saturation and pulse rate all night, on its own, and keeps the data in memory until you transfer it.

Up to 1080 hours of recording, 53 hours of battery on two AAA cells, and Bluetooth Low Energy for transfer. It is used for overnight oximetry at home, including alongside CPAP therapy to see whether desaturations remain.

For obvious hygiene reasons, any item that has been unboxed and/or used cannot be returned or exchanged.

Why measure your oxygen when you are already on CPAP

A CPAP corrects apnoeas, and that is what it measures. It does not measure your oxygen. Yet desaturations can persist despite a well followed therapy, for reasons other than obstruction. A reassuring apnoea index therefore does not tell the whole story.

Overnight oximetry fills that gap. You wear the device on your wrist and its sensor on your finger and you sleep with your CPAP as usual. In the morning you have a full curve of your saturation. That is something concrete to bring to your appointment.

How it works in practice

  • You put it on at bedtime: the unit goes on the wrist like a watch, the sensor clips onto a finger. Nothing to set, nothing to start on your CPAP
  • It records on its own: saturation and pulse, all night, in non-volatile memory. Changing the batteries does not lose the data already recorded
  • You get the report: by USB cable into the nVISION software on a computer, or over Bluetooth to the Nonin Health platform

Which CPAP it works with

With an AirSense 11, the oximeter pairs directly over Bluetooth. Saturation and pulse are then recorded on the CPAP's SD card, timestamped against your breathing data, and carried through to AirView or myAir. It is the oximeter intended for that purpose, and only the BLE version pairs, which is this one. Pairing is done with the device awake, and enabling the feature goes through your provider.

With an AirSense 10 or an AirCurve 10, the link is not wireless: it needs the wired oximetry module, which is a separate item.

With any other CPAP, the oximeter works on its own and you get the report over USB or Bluetooth. So you are never stuck.

Who it is for

For those who want to understand what happens at night rather than rely on the single index the machine shows. And for those whose doctor asks for a control oximetry without wanting a full laboratory recording again.

This device measures, it does not diagnose. Reading the trace is your doctor's job. Never change your CPAP settings on the basis of these figures without their advice.
