Frequently asked questions
Positional therapy treats so-called positional sleep apnea: your AHI is significantly higher in the supine position (on the back) than on the side. The goal is to avoid back sleeping to reduce upper airway obstruction. Night Shift detects supine position and delivers a gentle vibration to encourage side sleeping.
You wear the Night Shift around the neck or chest before sleeping. It automatically detects your position. When supine, it triggers a gentle progressive vibration, silently, until you change position. A 15 or 30 minute sleep-onset delay can be set so you are not disturbed when falling asleep.
Night Shift is indicated for adults with positional obstructive sleep apnea, confirmed by polysomnography. It is also suitable for reducing positional snoring. It is not appropriate for severe non-positional apnea, nor for central apnea. A prior medical assessment is essential.
Not systematically. Night Shift is a validated alternative for strictly positional apnea (normal AHI on the side). If your apnea persists on the side, CPAP remains the reference treatment. Discuss with your sleep physician: they will assess the positional share of your apnea to choose the right option.
Most users adapt within 1 to 2 weeks. The first nights, you will be stimulated more often, then your brain learns to spontaneously avoid the supine position. The app tracks your progress and confirms that you spend less and less time on your back each night.
Night Shift offers about 3 nights of use per charge. Charging is done via the supplied USB cable, in a few hours on a standard plug or a computer USB port. The internal battery is designed to last several years with normal use.
Yes. Night Shift connects via Bluetooth to an iOS and Android app. You access data such as time spent supine, supine attempts, snoring intensity, sleep quality and treatment effectiveness. History is stored up to 12 months and detailed reports can be downloaded for your physician.
