Recent studies show a different reality: up to 50% of women after age 50 are affected, with often atypical symptoms (chronic fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, morning headaches) that delay diagnosis by several years.

And once diagnosed, you still need a mask that fits. That's where For Her masks come in: smaller cushions, finer-strap headgear, and more discreet colors than the male versions.

Why a women's CPAP mask?

Women's morphology is on average:

  • finer at the nose, cheekbones and jawline
  • narrower nasal bridge and more delicate

Sleep apnea in women: what to know

Women often develop sleep apnea after menopause due to estrogen decline (hormone that maintains pharyngeal muscle tone). Typical female symptoms differ from men's:

  • Unexplained chronic fatigue rather than marked daytime drowsiness
  • Insomnia or frequent night awakenings
  • Morning headaches
  • Anxiety, treatment-resistant depression
  • Snoring often absent or very mild
  • Resistant depression or mood disorder

The absolute female best-seller is the AirFit P10 For Her: nasal pillow, ultra-light (76 g), with XS/S pillows and fine headgear. If you breathe through the mouth, go for the AirFit F20 For Her (full face). For a classic nasal mask, the Mirage FX For Her is the safe bet.

A classic size-S mask has the same structure as M or L, just scaled down. A For Her mask is fundamentally redesigned for female morphology: finer straps, adjusted headgear dimensions, cushion redesigned for female facial contours, and often more discreet colors/finishes. Over time, it's a real gain in comfort and fewer leaks.

If you prefer Philips or F&P, choose size S with a compact cushion (e.g. F&P Evora nasal, very compact, or DreamWisp in S).

Yes. ResMed For Her masks use a standard 22 mm connector and work with any CPAP: Philips DreamStation, Löwenstein prisma, Sefam EcoStar. You don't need a ResMed CPAP to use a For Her mask. Only exception: the ResMed AirMini requires specific "for AirMini" masks (the AirFit P10 for AirMini exists in standard version; the standard P10 For Her is not AirMini-compatible).
