AirSense 11 vs AirSense 10: is the upgrade worth it?

AirSense 11 vs AirSense 10 - Is Upgrading to the Model 11 Worth It?

The ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet has for years been one of the world's best-selling Auto CPAPs. Its successor, the AirSense 11 AutoSet, brings several significant improvements. But do these enhancements justify the additional cost? This guide compares the two models in detail to help you decide.

Please note: VivaRespire offers both models for direct purchase, in full ownership, outside the INAMI convention. You can start your CPAP therapy without any administrative delay.

What Actually Changes Between the Two Models

1. Native Wi-Fi - the major difference

The most significant addition of the AirSense 11 is the integration of native Wi-Fi. With the AirSense 10, data synced via Bluetooth, requiring your smartphone to be near the device. With the 11, data is sent automatically each night via your home router - with no user action required.

2. AutoSet-14 Algorithm

The AirSense 11 features the AutoSet-14 algorithm, an updated version of AutoSet. ResMed reports improvements in fine detection of respiratory events and mask leak management. For the vast majority of users, both algorithms deliver comparable therapeutic results.

3. Improved myAir and ecosystem

The myAir app paired with the AirSense 11 offers richer features: more advanced personalised coaching, smart notifications and a refined therapy score. The digital experience is overall smoother.

4. Non-backwards-compatible accessories

AirSense 10 accessories (tube, humidifier) are not compatible with the AirSense 11, and vice versa. If you upgrade to the 11, budget for new accessories.

Should You Upgrade from AirSense 10 to AirSense 11?

Upgrade to the 11 if...

  • You are buying your first CPAP
  • Native Wi-Fi and automatic sync interest you
  • You want the latest myAir features
  • Your AirSense 10 is ageing (5+ years of use)

Keep the 10 if...

  • Your AirSense 10 works perfectly
  • You have recently invested in AS10 accessories
  • Native Wi-Fi does not matter to you
  • Budget is a constraint

Frequently asked questions about the AirSense 10 to 11 upgrade

Not necessarily. If your AirSense 10 works perfectly and your results are good, there is no urgency to change. The AS11 mainly brings native Wi-Fi, a slightly refined AutoSet-14 algorithm and a richer myAir app. For a first purchase or if your AS10 is 5 years old or more, switching to the AS11 makes sense. For an early replacement, the added value stays modest.

No. The AirSense 10 remains an excellent CPAP, still sold alongside the AS11. Its AutoSet algorithm is mature and proven. It lacks native Wi-Fi but keeps Bluetooth and SD card data access. For a patient prioritising affordability and not needing automatic sync, the AS10 remains a relevant choice in 2026.

ResMed has not announced an official end-of-support date for the AirSense 10. Consumables (filters, tubes, HumidAir 10 humidifier, cushions) remain broadly available and likely will be for several more years. CPAP manufacturers usually maintain spare parts support well beyond the commercial life of the model. No imminent risk of sudden discontinuation.

The second-hand CPAP market is very limited in Belgium for hygiene reasons (medical device). Peer-to-peer resale is loosely regulated and the asking price will typically be well below new. If your AS10 is recent and in good condition, it keeps value for personal use (travel backup, family loan). For pure resale, expect at best 30 to 50 percent of the new price.

AirFit and AirTouch masks move seamlessly from AS10 to AS11. However, the ClimateLineAir 10 tube and HumidAir 10 humidifier are not compatible with AS11. You will need to buy the ClimateLineAir 11 and HumidAir 11 (the latter being dishwasher-safe, a real upgrade). Keep your old accessories if you retain the AS10 as a backup device.

The AS11 typically costs 150 to 250 euros more than the AS10. If you are buying your first CPAP, the difference is easily justified by native Wi-Fi, the enhanced myAir ecosystem and a 5 to 7 year usage horizon. If you are replacing a recent, well-functioning AS10, the extra cost is harder to justify. Weigh it against your real need for automatic connectivity.
